Grand Parents

I've always heard that grandparenting is the best gig in town, but I had no idea how good.

I love having these 2 little precious girls and knowing that they are an extention of Nancy and me!

Nancy went to L.A. when Noelle was born, but I won't get to hold this little one until July. I can't wait!! She sounds like she'll grow to be a spunky young lady for Jesus!

We've been able to visit with Vivian in Fort Collins a few times, since that is only a 2 hour drive.
Vivian is a sweetheart! She's smiling and making fun "talking" sounds. She loves their dogs and especially their cat.
Vivian is a precious gift from God.

The Old Man Still Has It!

It was pitch black at 5:20 a.m. when I boarded the bus for Pudre Canyon on May 6th. The day had come for the Ft. Collins mini-marathon.
I plunked down the registration fee and told lots of people about my upcoming race - just to make sure I got running again. Now the day had come. Had I prepared enough? Would I need to be resuscitated somewhere along the 15 mile race course?
I was encouraged to cross the finish line - and I felt great!
When's the next one?

Wrapping up the year at UCCS

Breaking Bill's Basketball backboard at the Nav's End Of the Year BBQ

I just realized that my last post was at the beginning of the semester and here we are wrapping up the year already!

What a very fruitful year we had- praise God! Not only did we continue to see new people coming to our Nav meetings - right up to the last night, but many students grew spiritually deeper as well.
Our "high commitment" Bible studies proved successful as we asked students to commit to preparing, attending and participating each week. They also memorized scripture as part of their preparation. To be honest, I was unsure if students would find this appealing, but they "ate it up!"
Now 25 students eagerly volunteered to come back and help lead the ministry next fall - I'm thrilled about what next year will hold!

Laborers for the Harvest

When [Jesus] saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." Matthew 9:36-38

God has answered that prayer in part by raising up these committed students. These men and women are the Navigators Student Leadership Team at UCCS. I depend on them a ton and God is using them to make things happen! For example, we just had to move to a new room for our Nav weekly meeting because we outgrew our last one. Again this week we had a bunch of new people who came to our Nav meeting!
Would you pray for these students? Ask God to instill in them the vision, passion and skills to serve Him for the rest of their lives.

UCCS Navs Enjoy Rocky Mountain Retreat

Fifty students and staff from UCCS joined 500 other Navigators from New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming. Our students LOVED being together in Estes Park, CO for our regional Navigators fall retreat. We heard great messages by Tom Yeakley to motivate and challenge us to live by faith in God's Word. We have seen phenominal growth this year and are grateful that God has allowed us the privilege of being a part of it all.

If you'd like to pray for us, would you pray that God would raise up more student leaders? We believe that's what the Navs at UCCS are about - Asking "the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." Matthew 9:38

Blizzard '06

John and his new bride Melissa are home from Florida - just in time to play in the snow!
Wow! We've been hammered by the best snow storm in memory! Joy's flight from L.A. was cancelled, so she DROVE all the way to Colorado Springs. Her husband Joe was already here on Nav business, so now we're all here for a fun, snowy, white Christmas.

I'll be home for Christmas

Yea - All of the kids are coming home for Christmas!

This has been a different experience for us this year. Not only do we have three married children, but two of them are farther away than we've ever had to experience. John and his new bride Melissa will be joining us from Florida. Joy and her husband Joe will travel from California.

Of course we are grateful that Kristi and her husband Jens, as well as David and Paul will all travel from Fort Collins (about 2 hour drive). Amy will be so glad that there will be more than just "old people" to talk to.

All of us gathered for Joy and Joy's Wedding in July.
